Beware of Link Building Companies
Yesterday we did our monthly evaluation on the site, and noticed their traffic went down, their search engine results dropped, and their page rank went down 2 points, all in one month.
After checking out the site ‘health’ stats, we noticed that the owner of the website had purchased almost 1,000 links through some link-building company.
Unfortunately it looks like it had the opposite effect that they wanted it to. They weren’t ‘relevant’ links, and they came from suspicious domains, named things like ‘addmysite.com’ and ‘addyoursite.com’. Bad news.
Our best advice: Don’t engage in this kind of activity if you don’t completely understand what you’re getting yourself into, and how to spot the ‘good’ companies from the ‘bad’. Do some research into what good organic SEO practices mean for your company, in your industry.
